More About The Congress

The Congress

The 4th ASRIC Congress is structured in two sessions namely: the Scientific Session and the Governance Session. The first two days will consist of presentation of scientific papers with keynote speeches, while the remaining subsequent days will carry the Opening ceremony of the main congress, ASRIC election, presentation of handing over reports, ASRIC Committees meetings and the 4th Congress recommendations.

The Keynote Speeches will cover the following areas:

  1. Continental Free Trade Agreement and STI Leveraging on Inclusive Innovation;
  2. Africa’s transition from commodity-based economy to knowledge-based economy;
  3. Environmental Economics; degradation, pollution, protection and conservation in Africa;
  4. STI Education challenges and perspectives.

Note: it is unfortunate that COVID-19 non-pharmaceutical interventions called for special arrangements that are to be taken during conferences and gathering. The Organizing Committee and the ASRIC Bureau resolved to limit the number of scientists participating in this conference, as such the scientific session of this 4th Congress will be hybrid “some of the scientists will participate in persons while others are encouraged to participate virtually”.

Conference Theme

The 4th Congress of the African Scientific Research and Innovation Council (ASRIC) is designed with the theme: "Strategic Investment/Utilization of STI for Africa’s Economic Emergence". The theme is addressing Africa’s challenges in transforming to knowledge-based economy and to tap into Africa’s wealth in natural resources (agriculture, minerals etc.) and as a wake-up call, for skillful manpower and innovations that can be harnessed from Africa’s sizeable market under the umbrella of AfCFTA.
